Carey Courson is the owner of Carey On Creations, a party planning company in South Florida. Carey has worked in the event planning industry for a decade. She has successfully coordinated large scale weddings, corporate and non-profit events, as well as created personalized, intimate gatherings for children and adult celebrations.
Carey is pursuing a B.A. in Communication, with a concentration in Strategic Communication, at Nova Southeastern University, where she also works as the administrative coordinator for the Department of Communication, Media, and the Arts in the Halmos College of Arts and Sciences. In this role, she resolves complex problems and implements strategic planning and project management skills as she plans and oversees special events. Carey reports directly to the department Chair and provides administrative support to program directors, faculty, staff, students, alumni and community partners. Carey interprets requests and determines action plans for important, time sensitive matters.
In 2020, Carey was named Staff Person of the Year for the College of Arts, Sciences and Humanities at NSU’s Student Life Achievement award ceremony. She is an active member of the Project Management Institute (PMI), International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), the American Women Business Association(AWBA), and serves as the Special Events Chair for the NSU Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). Carey works with the Mako Media Network on marketing and branding initiatives and serves as the Arts Reporter. She can be heard regularly on WKPX 88.5 FM Mako Radio’s Off The Record broadcasts and is the host of Mako TV’s Sharks in the Arts segments. As a native south Floridian, Carey enjoys finding occasions to celebrate in the tri-county area.
